Dan Abnett, comic book author and mastermind behind the Guardians of the Galaxy film, launched a week of ‘booky’ activities centred around World Book Day. 70 students joined him at lunchtime to hear him talk and received a signed copy of one of his comics.
There were opportunities for students to be involved in a wide range of activities including crafting, debating, reading, baking, competitions and listening to author talks.
Dressing up as a favourite book character is undoubtedly the highlight of the week. At TGS we feel it’s important to celebrate literature and remind everyone it’s a day of reading and dressing up is a fun-filled way to do this. We are always impressed by the variety and ingenuity of costumes and it’s always good to see students from Year 7 to Year 13 taking part. MRS MALONEY, Librarian
