CAS Story: Vrinda, Yr 12

Vrinda has been volunteering at Nexus School in Tonbridge for the last 6 months as part of the CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) element of her IB Diploma Programme. Nexus is an ambitious special school for children and young people with profound, severe and complex needs, many of whom are on the Autistic Spectrum.

Julian Salmon, Bodiam Class Teacher wrote: “It has been a pleasure having Vrinda join our class each week and the students loved meeting her. One student in particular really began to open up to Vrinda, when normally she tends to be reluctant to interact. This was also the first time this student had even sat down at our computers at school, let alone joined in with an activity. It was really very pleasing to see. Vrinda showed some very good qualities in that she was very polite, kind, sensible, was relaxed with the students and happy to answer their questions when we had a short question time. She also came across as intelligent and did not need prompting to join our students, or support them with activities. Well done Vrinda and thank you for your support.”

I would like to thank you for the opportunity to volunteer at Nexus school, it has been a lovely and informative experience for me.
