IB History gives you every opportunity to hone your historical skills. In particular, you have the opportunity to explore the arguments of leading historians, testing them against the evidence you have.
We hope that you appreciate the richness of History through studying it at IB. You are able to polish further the skills that you have already gained. You are encouraged to read, debate, and think independently.
Everyone who studies IB History takes a source-based paper on the inter-war years, with a focus on Japanese, Italian and German foreign policy; you also take a paper on 20th century History, focusing on dictatorship and war. Your ability to see trends and developments over time and to draw parallels is really important.
By choosing History at Higher Level you also complete a paper on three aspects of earlier history, studying the Renaissance, the Reformation and Counter-Reformation, and Exploration and Discovery.
