Tonbridge Grammar School are holding a Creativity Event, showcasing work from Design and Technology, Dance, Drama, Music and Art, on Tuesday 21 and Friday 24 March. The theme of this year’s show is ‘Express Yourself 2017: Masquerade’.
Approximately 150 students aged between 11 and 17 will be involved with the show, either performing wearing clothes that they have made, showing off their dance moves, acting with a group, or singing songs, that in several cases, they have written themselves. Students of all ages will be showcasing their flair and creativity in designing and making a range of imaginative garments, including creations made by Year 7 students in their Action! and lunchtime clubs and Year 10 Textiles CAS students who enjoyed working to a brief of ‘upcycling’. We will be showcasing some of our best textiles pieces from previous years and this year (hot off the press!), as well as involving students of all ages in a show stopping display of dance and drama. We will also be holding an exhibition of work from Design and Technology and Art, displaying the innovative work that our students create.
All profits from the show will go to support our Year 12 students’ trip to the Joshua Project in Malawi in July and August this summer. This year we have 32 students going out to Malawi to work in the community and help fund on-going building projects.
The Showcase will be presented over 2 nights, Tuesday 21 March at 6.00pm until approx. 8.00pm at a ticket price of £5, and Friday 24 March at 7.00pm until approx. 9.30pm with tickets at £7. On Friday we are fortunate to have a special guest appearance from Julius Cowdrey from ‘Made in Chelsea!' He has agreed to attend the show and, hopefully, perform one of his songs for us! He will also be available to have photos taken with him for a small donation to the Joshua Project. Refreshments will be available provided by the team of girls going to Malawi this summer.
This popular event is always fantastic and tickets sell out very quickly. We have an allocation of 200 tickets per night for students, parents and friends of TGS students. Ticket orders and payments can be made via ParentPay.
If your child is performing in the Showcase, please give permission for them to perform by completing the online permission form below.
