We are delighted to inform you that on Thursday 10th March, John Dobai, a Holocaust survivor will be visiting Tonbridge Grammar School to deliver his testimony, which will be followed by a question and answer session. We would like to invite you to attend this event, which is part of the Holocaust Educational Trust’s extensive all year round Outreach Programme. A brief biography of Mr. Dobai provided by the Holocaust Educational Trust can be found below.
We were inspired to organise this event after we were lucky enough to take part in a day trip to the former Nazi extermination camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, close to the town of Oświęcim in Poland. This was part of the Lessons from Auschwitz project organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust. As preparation for the visit, we were able to hear a talk from a Holocaust survivor, which was an amazing experience for us, which we would now like to extend to others.
The evening will begin at 6.30pm with a brief introductory presentation delivered by the four of us, followed by Mr. Dobai’s testimony and a question and answer session. The evening will finish at 8.30pm.
Parents, students and friends of the school are all welcome, though due to the serious nature of the subject matter, it is important that all audience members have some prior knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust. As a result, this opportunity is only available to students in Year 10 and above and any students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Limited, pre-booked parking spaces are now available at school. To find out more about travelling to this event and request an on-site parking permit please visit: www.tgs.kent.sch.uk/travel-plan by Friday 26th February 2016.
If you have any questions regarding any of the above arrangements then please contact Ms Hoban at your earliest convenience by email email@example.com.
