Houses

There are 6 houses at TGS, all of which are named after past Headteachers or teachers (see School History page for more information).

Each house has a colour associated with it, and a badge designed by students:

Arnold – blue

Carey – green

Debney – purple

Fayerman – red

Mitchener – yellow

Taylor – black

Upon entering TGS, each student is placed into a house.  Houses are assigned in a way that allows students to get to know others that live near them and who they may travel into school with.

They compete in inter-house competitions and Sports Day for their house in order to win house points and for one lucky house, the House Cup!

Each house is led by a Sixth Form House Leader that run and support activities and events.

House Charities

Each house has a relationship with a local charity that encompasses more than just fundraising. The aim is that the charities become embedded in the houses and that they are integrated into curriculum activities where relevant and into events and careers education.

As well as having an opportunity to support their charities financially, our students have an opportunity to understand more about the wider running of the organisations and learn to think broadly about their community engagement and what forms that might take.
